Developing strength in parent partnership
Here at Towngate Primary Academy, we believe that parents and staff working together in partnership is essential to a child's individual needs being fully met. These are some of the ways in which we work with parents and carers:
Open Door Policy
Here at Towngate, we operate an open door poilcy. Besides parent evenings, if you have any worries or concerns, please do come and see us because we can help and we are always pleased to see you. However, we do request that unless it is absolutely essential, teachers are seen at the end rather than the start of the Academy day to avoid distruption to lessons. However, if it is urgent please speak to our Academy learning mentor and behaviour officer are always available.
'Meet the teacher' Meetings
Each class has a ‘Meet the Teacher’ meeting at the beginning of each academic year to outline:
- Homework expectations
- Class rules
- Curriculum content
- Planned educational visits
- Information about upcoming formal assessments
Each year at Towngate Primary Academy, INSPIRE events are held in every year group. These have proved to be a huge success with staff, children and parents throughly enjoying them.
This year's (2018/2019) event dates will be sent out to parents during the autumn term. We look forward to these events. Here are some photographs to remind you of all the fun we had this year.
Helping your child at home
Every academic year, we hold core subject workshops for parents/carers to attend. These have been vital for presenting information about 'how to help your child at home'. The feedback we have received has been very positive and we will continue to run these in the next academic year. If you require information about the teaching of English or Mathematics in the meantime, please feel free to contact the school office on 01924 302865 or subject coordinators and we will work together to support you helping your child at home.
Friday Book Share with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher
Every other Friday, pupils are welcomed to come and listen to a story along with their parents/carers or family members. This is an excellent oppurtunity for children to enjoy listening to a book being read to them and a great chance for parent/carers to ask any questions about ways in which they can support their child at home with reading.
Friday mornings are very special at Towngate Primary Academy, we hold an achievement assembly to recoginse all the childrens hard work throughout the week. Parents will receive a text from the school office if their child is to be awarded with a certificate. We welcome all parents, carers and family members to the assemblies to celebrate these great achievements.
Every Friday morning, a coffee morning is held. We invite all parents, carers and family members to attend. This is an excellent way to share your thoughts and feedback with us. Our learning mentor and behaviour officer also attend these sessions, its a great opportunity to ask for advice or just have a chat after our special achievement assemblies.
Safeguarding is paramount at Towngate Primary Academy. We have a very dedicated team who hold half-termly safeguarding meetings for parents/carers to attend. The content of these meetings and upcoming dates are reported to parents through our academy newsletter.
Parent information meetings
Parent information meetings are held in the autumn and spring term at Towngate Primary Academy. Teachers send out individual child's school reports in the summer term. Parent meetings are a great oppurtunity for class teachers to share information about how your child is progressing at school. It is vital that all parents/carers attend these meetings, in order to understand how to best support your child at home.
At Towngate Primary Academy, we are very fortunate to have a wonderful PTA. Please see the leaflet attached for details of our PTA and how you can get involved and what we have achieved so far!.
If you have any ideas or suggestions about other ways in which we can work together, please feel free to share them with us.
Thank you to all our parents, carers and families for all your ongoing support!
Should you wish to find out any further information about our academy or curriculum, please speak to your child's class teacher, who will be happy to discuss this with you.
